RHYTHM OF GRACE

A CENTER FOR SPIRITUAL FORMATION

What is Rhythm of Grace?

Rhythm of Grace emerged in the year 2000 along with many changes that were coming in a new century. Focusing on a misunderstood but popular topic of spiritual formation, a new center to explore the beauty and tension of transformation began to blossom.

As a center for spiritual formation, Rhythm of Grace was helping followers of Jesus understand the implications of this on-going discipleship imperative. Most Christians in the West had come to understand discipleship as a course, a class, information to be learned, a world view to be created.

Spiritual formation emerged as a focus that went beyond the education of Christians to look at the development of the virtues Jesus was eager to see duplicated. A life lived from these virtues would change the world.

Rhythm of Grace conducts classes but as importantly provides opportunities to practice together the lifestyle of following Jesus in our given circumstances and places. Through both the classes and practices a community of individuals has emerged to support and encourage one another. It is not a community like a typical church, but more in line with a para-church. What binds us together, as we are dispersed is our understanding of a lifestyle of overflow, Jesus describes in John 15.

We find our historical roots from the Christian desert tradition, Celtic Christian tradition, Protestant reformation and Catholic reformation igniting our imaginations and thinking of ways to follow Jesus as our Lord and Savior.

We are made up of individuals who come from all stripes of the Christian faith. Not focusing on what makes up our individual doctrinal differences but how we can learn from those differences as a part of our transformation.
