LEARNING TO LISTEN, TO LOVE, AND TO LIVE
The heart of Rhythm of Grace is an intensive spiritual formation process course designed to help integrate faith development with our everyday life.
Pilgrims are people on a journey traveling from one place to another. Followers of Christ are on a spiritual pilgrimage. The Christian’s pilgrimage moves through the rebirth of the spirit and then the awkward outward lifestyle changes. For many the journey stalls here. But the full pilgrimage is designed to continue into the treacherous and difficult regions of consistent inner transformation. The ultimate destination this side of glory, according to Scripture, is Christlikeness.
There have been many pilgrims in previous generations who have given us ‘way markers’ to mark the distinctive terrain of our inner transformation. If we pay attention to their suggestions and insights we can proceed with faith on this path of God’s vision for our lives. A Pilgrim’s Process is designed to expose followers of Christ to these classic ‘way makers’ necessary for those whose dream and hope for this life is greater than their current experience; for those who desire to be formed into the image of Christ.
Our pilgrimage is a lifelong process of spiritual formation. In every Christian tradition God has given wisdom regarding this process. A Pilgrim’s Process is an experience designed to learn from these various traditions. The outcome is to provide the necessary tools an individual will need to follow Christ through the terrain of the difficult days found in the maturing of faith development.
We do not provide a cookie cutter, one size fits all, model. Each Pilgrim is unique unto themselves. The tools provided are to be used in crafting a unique pilgrimage. Toward this goal, we utilize retreats and/or weekly classes as well as optional spiritual direction appointments designed to help integrate cognitive information with the real life experiences of each individual. The retreat combines lecture with personal time and space for reflection on God’s lifestyle invitations and the classes combine lecture, discussion, and home praxis. The spiritual direction appointments, occurring throughout the course and allow opportunities for the individual to question, experiment, and to receive the support necessary to achieve appropriate integration.
A Center for Spiritual Formation
“I started out to try and find a formula to get closer to God. A Pilgrim’s Process revitalized my view of life and the impact I have on those around me. For the first time, I realized that Jesus was not another thing I checked off my to-do list, but that He was there in the doing right beside me.” — Alisa Roth
“A Pilgrim’s Process exposes followers of Christ to classic ‘way makers’ necessary for those whose dream and hope for this life is greater than their current experience; for those who desire to be formed into the image of Christ. The outcome of this experience is exposure to the necessary tools an individual will need to follow Christ through the terrain of the difficult days found in the maturing of faith development.”
The Course Outline
Module 1: A look at the map: These lessons unfold the big picture of the allurement to Christlikeness. The participant will discover a clearer picture of where their heart has intended to go, the process to get there, and the means by which they will progress. This module will provide content outlining the history, theology, and meaning of the Way of Christian discipleship (commonly referred to today as spiritual formation), the various stages of spiritual development, and the survival kit spiritual exercises a disciple must integrate into their journey in the development of our sacred discipleship process.
Module 2: A Rule of Life: This module will explore and provide practice opportunities with various means that a follower of Jesus must develop to encounter the Truth of Christian discipleship. Participants will have the experience of establishing their own rule or rhythm of applying the Truth about Jesus’ Way for their life based on their own journey. Participants will also gain an understanding of the blockages that work to thwart their desired lifestyle and how to overcome each.
Module 3: Tracking God’s voice: The pilgrimage toward Christlikeness is only as successful as our ability to learn to track the voice of God. This workshop will equip the participant to listen and discern God’s voice based on their unique relationship with God as well as explore the many ways God's voice has been spoken. Ultimately our journey is for the sake of the world around us and this module will provide a vision for what that might look like in each person’s life.

Rhythm of Grace is a center for spiritual formation. Services assist in the process of Christian faith development. Often those who participate are reevaluating the direction his or her Christian life is heading. Evaluations occur during natural changes in life stages or through times of personal crisis. These changes can result in times of darkness, dryness, or times of simple curiosity about the Christian life and questioning, “Is this all it is? Is my life really different than before I came to Christ?” Contact us about the cost and next opportunity to participate in A Pilgrim’s Process. We are also available to provide special offerings of this spiritual formation process in your area and setting. Contact Craig, principal instructor, at firstname.lastname@example.org to explore the possibility of joining us or having us come to your group.
